On this blog were suppose to think of things that you don’t ever think about. Well what I’m going to talk about today, you see everyday and is a big part of what helps you get around. Today, I’m going to talk about the aglet. The aglet by definition is a small plastic or metal sheath typically used on each end of a shoelace, cord, or drawstring. The little plastic tip on the end of your shoe is what holds your whole lace together so that you don’t trip and fall on your face. These little things are huge in our lives even though almost everyday you touch it.
Lets put this into a situation where you don’t have an aglet on your shoe. You go to school, your shoes are tied, you walk around; everything is good right? Well when the bell rings you go to class and sit there moving your shoe back and forth loosening the strings on your shoes. The fire alarm goes off and while everyone is out the door, you tripped on your shoelaces and got locked in the building. You are able to find a window, but as you jump out your “untied” shoes spontaneously catches on a chair and you die.
Not a fun story huh? Well this could all have been avoided just if you had an aglet on your shoes. Well, now that one word can save your life, you will always know that one word is aglet. TC
